Although cats do live in social groups, they may reject the addition of other members to their group by attempting to chase and drive them away. In some cases if the cat persists in remaining nearby they may accept that cat a bit, but never allow close contact. Research has shown that over time aggression between cats may diminish, but it can take more than a year for that to happen. If a cat is continually getting injured by the other cats the social situation may not be a good one for them and perhaps another home could be found for that cat.
