Our kittens use body postures and facial expressions to help convey their moods and feelings. Ears that are forward and a soft stare say “I am interested.” Ears that are back, pupils dilated and twitching tail may be saying “I am upset or anxious.” A crouched, low body position may indicate uncertainty or fear. A tail straight up over the back while standing or approaching is usually an invitation to interact. An arched back and jumping side ways is often a play posture in kittens. Remember, all of these body postures can be combined to make different meanings. Once you know your kitten you can begin to understand her moods and feelings by watching her actions.
