You do the same thing as with a kitten. Spend time with the cat. Talk to him or her. You do not have to be petting or holding the kitty. Simply sitting in the same room with the cat can be comforting and help the kitty become closer to you. Establish a routine that the cat can rely on–feed at the same time in the same place each day, for example. Offer treats or a toy-and-play session at the same time and place each day. Cats adore routine. Once YOU become part of the cat’s established routine, you’re on your way!
