Last spring my husband purchased some baby chicks for our ranch. The chicks grew and now we have a rooster who thinks he rules the yard. He’s big and he’s mean and even beats up the dog.
I had surgery on my foot and was not able to walk for two months. I’d been walking for only two weeks when this vicious rooster decided he would give me a run for my money.
I didn’t know Squeaky, my cat, was anywhere around, when the rooster suddenly turned and made a run for the woods, just when I thought I was going to be spurred by that mean old bird. Squeaky ran up between my legs and rubbed on me and meowed at the rooster. I thought it was sweet that he could be my hero when I needed one.
