I own a small deli in a little town in Texas. My neighbors to one side moved away and I inherited their cat, Ms.Stubbs. She and I often spent a nice summer’s eve on the porch together and eventually bonded…me providing a constant food bowl of Purina® Cat Chow® brand Cat Food, and Ms Stubbs providing porch companionship and occasional rubs and/or other communication. Recently, Ms Stubbs started meeting me at the door of the shop. She would race me to the food bowl and patiently wait for my return at the door. Today, we did the same routine, only I filled her bowl with some corn beef instead of Purina.
A bit later, Anna, my helper asked me, “Did you forget to feed Ms Stubbs? She was at the door just meowing away at me as I came in.” “No, I gave her a big bowl of corn beef…the little piglet.” I responded. So I cut up some turkey and took her out a bowl of it. The corn beef was still there, untouched. “Well,” I thought, “maybe she’ll like this better.”
My husband came into the shop later…”Did you forget to feed Ms Stubbs? She’s at the door begging for food!” “Noooo! I fed her!” I replied, “I gave her a bowl of corn beef AND turkey”. So all three of us went out to feed her Purina® Cat Chow® brand Cat Food and there she was at the door. She raced ahead to her feeding area where I placed the Purina down next to the other 2 bowls and sure enough she began to gobble up her feed!
