My 16-year-old Patches was a sneaky girl. I had recently changed jobs and would come home from work to find my lingerie drawers open. Thinking that it was silly of me to have forgotten to close the drawers before I left for work, I’d close the drawers and think nothing of it—until it started happening two or three times a week! I was getting nervous thinking that someone was coming into the house while I was away.
So I spoke with the neighbors, family and friends, and asked them to keep an eye out during the day. Then one evening, after months of living in fear, my Patches wanted to play and I told her she’ll have to wait while I finished my work. A few minutes later, I hear the drawers open. Scared out of my mind, I slowly crept down the hallway to see Miss Patches with her paws around the handles of my lingerie chest. Yes, pulling the drawers open and climbing in! It seems she was missing me so much that she chose to sleep in my lingerie drawer.
Miss Patches taught me a great lesson. I really didn’t realize how my new routine had changed her life. From that minute on, I began to give her the time and attention she needed and deserved. It’s funny, my lingerie drawers were never found open again! And you can imagine how my neighbors, family and friends reacted when I had to tell them my lingerie sneak was really my own lovable cat.
