Cats can actually vary a great deal in their desire for closeness and petting. Some cats are simply “cuddle kitties,” while others are more aloof. Often a cat may want to be nearby and close to their people but might not desire much touching and stroking. It is often useful to look for different types of interaction that a non-cuddly kitty might enjoy. This could be playtime, sitting on your lap without being stroked, a gentle pet on the head or a soft scratch around the ears. Once you find the special thing he likes, you can begin to build on the relationship.
