I certainly hope you are all o.k. Hearing loss from gunshot discharge is certainly possible. We know that the sound levels from a gunshot can cause hearing loss in a cat but it is not always total. Unfortunately, there are not enough studies out there to tell us what your cat’s course may be from here. If she has lost her hearing, it could be partial or total. It may be reversible or not. I wish I could tell you for sure. If she has lost her hearing, most cats will adapt very well to loss of one of their senses. I would definitely keep her inside as her hearing loss increases the chances of danger but I think you’ll find if she has any deafness she’ll do fine.
