Different cats have preferred sleeping styles. Your cat may like to sleep on his back for a variety of reasons. Perhaps he becomes too warm when curled up and he enjoys having air circulate over his tummy. He may also feel extremely trusting and relaxed, and expresses himself by sleeping in this vulnerable position. Other times, cats may have issues with their joints that simply make it more comfortable to rest in this fashion rather than with limbs tucked up beneath or beside them.
