Cats can have acid reflux but we do not consider it a primary issue like we do with people. The motion you describe sounds to me like your cat is nauseous. Many cats will lick their lips, swallow more or move their mouth differently when they feel sick. Depending on the underlying cause, if your cat is nauseous an antibiotic may not help. I would encourage you to return to your veterinarian and get to the bottom of what’s going on. Lab work or an x-ray may be needed and your cat may benefit from some anti-nausea medicine. Hope he’s feeling better soon.
