While abuse is possible, it is also likely that this cat may not have had any prior experiences with men and is therefore shy and leery of them. In situations such as this one, it can be useful to try to associate all the good things with the person the cat is avoiding. This person can feed them, offer treats and playtime and overall be the “good guyâ€. Usually over time the cat will become less fearful and more interactive with that person.
