We are so sorry to hear about your cat. I know I say this all the time, but it is often so hard to lose a young cat because you grieve the life they could have had. Bladder infection can be a term that is used loosely sometimes for various urinary tract diseases. Based on your cat’s passing, I would suspect he had a urinary blockage. Cats can hide this extremely well and by the time they show signs they are very sick. If they’ve been unable to urinate for a longer period of time, their potassium can become elevated and cause heart problems. If I had to make an educated guess, I would suspect this was the likely cause of your cat’s death. Unfortunately, we don’t always know why some cats get this and others don’t. It was not because of anything you did wrong. In fact it sounds like you were taking great care of him by keeping him indoors and getting regular veterinary care. Please don’t beat yourself up about this, I know you gave your cat a great life, even if it was just for a short period of time. Please take care.
