Stop petting Kitty. *s* Seriously, some cats simply dislike contact, and they express their undying devotion and affection in other ways such as sleeping near you in the same room. Pet and play with the kitten in front of the older cat and she may loosen up a bit and learn that there’s a benefit to gentle contact. These touch-sensitive cats sometimes do much better with long distance style toys, like a feather wand or fishing pole toy.
Be aware, too, that kitten play activity hits a zenith at about four months of age, and then starts to decline. So the baby MAY continue to be playful and affectionate, but also may have a change in personality as he matures.
