There could be many reasons for the cat feeling hissy toward your new girlfriend. First–she’s a stranger. If it took two months for him to get used to you when you shared your home together, why should it take any less time for him to accept another stranger that doesn’t live with you?
Perhaps her perfume sometimes offends him, or her voice/movement is so different that it startles him. Hissing and growling are simply warnings to back away, stop staring, and give the cat space. So do so.
Ask her to fill the cat’s food bowl, but to not make eye contact with the cat. In fact, avoid looking at him, or petting him at all. Let the cat approach and if need be, confine the kitty in a room by himself. He’ll thank you for it.
Since you’ve invested in the cat relationship for two years and finally won him over, please give him time to do the same with your girlfriend. How long has she been around? Are you engaged? I ask, because you will absolutely hate yourself for giving up this special kitty if (lord forbid!) it doesn’t work out with your girlfriend. So please put yourself in the cat’s paws–and give both yourself and your cat a break. Time cures lots of these issues.
