There are several other considerations when a cat has a bad odor from their mouth and does not appear to be grooming themselves as they should. An infection in the mouth or sinus area may result in an odor and the cat may not feel well enough to groom themselves regularly. Irritation or infection in the gastrointestinal tract can also be responsible for ill health, mouth odor and lack of grooming. In some cases blood work, radiographs, and a fecal examination may be necessary to determine the source of the problem.
