Cats vary in their temperament and personality. Some cats are very confident, bold and outgoing and others are shy, timid and unfriendly. While environment is also a factor, in some cases the genetic predisposition of the cat predominates. It often helps to watch closely and determine what types of things the cat does like and slowly accentuate those areas. It may also be possible to reward small increments of desirable behavior with small food tidbits. As these are learned the cat may wish to earn more by becoming more interactive.
