It is not uncommon for animals to mourn the loss of a house mate. Keeping the same routine, offering pleasant things to do such as play and interaction and not trying to “comfort†the depressed behavior can be useful. It is also prudent to watch for a decrease in appetite or other signs that might indicate an illness. If any appear, a veterinary visit is probably a good idea.
